ActiveCare Fixed Height Hospital Bed – Rotating SafeTurn® Homecare Bed with One-Button Chair Exit (Up to 600 lb Capacity)

The ActiveCare Fixed Height Bed solves one of the most common challenges in home care: safely getting in and out of bed. With exclusive OneButtonSafeTurn® technology, the entire sleep surface rotates and rises into a chair position at the press of a single button—so users can enter and exit the bed the same way they would stand up from a chair. Its fixed, wheelchair-height platform supports safer transfers, reduces fall risk, and eases caregiver strain, all while maintaining a residential look that fits naturally into the home.

And unlike most hospital beds, this one arrives complete: your ActiveCare Fixed includes the premium Deluxe pressure-redistribution mattress, a fitted split sheet set, and a full set of headboards and footboards in your choice of finish—no surprise add-ons needed to start using it the day it's delivered.

What Comes in the Box

  • ActiveCare Fixed Height bed frame with OneButtonSafeTurn® rotation and full electric positioning
  • Deluxe Mattress included — 7" multi-layered foam with middle die cut for superior pressure redistribution
  • Split bed sheet set — fitted sheets sized for the articulating mattress sections
  • Headboard and footboard set in your choice of finish — select Obsidian Oak, Rift Gray Oak, or Hayward Cherry when ordering
  • Hand pendant control for all positioning functions

Please choose your headboard/footboard color at checkout. The included Deluxe mattress can also be upgraded to the gel-infused Elite memory foam, the zoned reactive-air StatMatt, or the powered ActiveCare Air therapy surface for an additional charge—see the Comfort & Support section below. Everything else you need to sleep on this bed the first night is in the box.

Where the ActiveCare Standard adds hi-lo height adjustment, the Fixed model keeps the frame at a stable, chair-friendly height—making it the most cost-effective way to get Med-Mizer's rotating SafeTurn exit. It's an excellent fit for individuals who have difficulty lifting their legs in and out of bed but still have the strength to rise from a standard chair, recliner, or wheelchair. Proudly made in the USA. For additional guidance, visit our Hospital Bed Buying Guide or explore all Rotating Hospital Beds and Hospital Beds.

Med-Mizer ActiveCare Fixed Height rotating hospital bed in chair exit position with residential wood finish

Best For

  • Fall prevention and safer independent bed transfers
  • Individuals who struggle to lift their legs in and out of bed
  • Wheelchair users—the 19" deck aligns with standard wheelchair height
  • Post-acute recovery, rehabilitation, and long-term home care
  • Reducing lifting strain for family and professional caregivers

SafeTurn® Rotation / Transfers

OneButtonSafeTurn® is an exclusive Med-Mizer feature that fully automates the bed into a chair position, pivoting the sleep surface so the user exits feet-first, facing forward—no sliding, scooting, or awkward twisting. The same button returns the user from seated to fully reclined. This dramatically reduces fall risk during bed exit and minimizes the manual lifting and repositioning that caregivers would otherwise perform.

Positioning / Adjustability

Beyond the rotating exit, the ActiveCare Fixed offers a full chair position and powered recliner-style positioning for eating, reading, watching TV, and socializing without leaving the bed. RollBack in Place™ technology articulates the head section to nearly 90 degrees while rolling it back in place, alleviating shearing and friction in the lower back, with independent knee articulation of approximately 30 degrees for added comfort. Note: because this is a fixed-height frame, hi-lo height adjustment and Trendelenburg positioning are not available on this model—if you need those features, see the ActiveCare Standard or Deluxe.

Height Configuration / Placement

The standard configuration places the deck at a fixed 19"—standard wheelchair height—for easy stand-up and sit-down transfers. Alternate configurations are available: a 12.5" low stationary base (no wheels) for a secure, non-mobile setup, or 15.5" and 18.5" heights using optional 3" or 5" casters when repositioning the bed is needed (5" casters available on the 36" width only). Your included headboard and footboard set comes in your choice of Obsidian Oak, Rift Gray Oak, or Hayward Cherry, letting the bed blend naturally into any bedroom.

Comfort / Support — Included Mattress & Upgrades

Your bed ships with the Deluxe Mattress at no extra charge: 7" multi-layered foam with a middle die cut engineered for pressure redistribution, plus a fitted split sheet set. For higher levels of comfort or pressure management, three upgrades are available: the Elite (7" copper gel-infused memory foam for deeper immersion and heat dissipation), the StatMatt (zoned reactive air system with eight horizontal foam-filled air cells that respond to movement and weight), and the ActiveCare Air (a 3-in-1 powered low air loss therapy surface with Alternating, Pulsation, and Static modes for pressure injury prevention and treatment—its Auto Boost feature even firms the seat section during SafeTurn rotation for steadier transfers). Frequently Asked Questions

Does Medicare cover the ActiveCare Fixed rotating bed?

In most cases Medicare does not cover the ActiveCare rotating bed, since it's classified as a premium specialty bed beyond standard coverage criteria — standard electric hospital beds may qualify with documented medical necessity, so it's worth speaking with your physician and insurance provider about your specific benefits. Many families find the cost compares favorably to the alternatives (paid caregivers, fall-related medical expenses). We're happy to provide documentation for insurance or reimbursement claims — call us at 844-795-2930.

What's the difference between the ActiveCare Fixed and the Standard/Deluxe models?

All three share the same rotating SafeTurn technology. The Fixed-Height model is the most cost-efficient option, designed for individuals who have difficulty placing their legs in and out of bed but have enough strength and mobility to enter and exit a standard chair on their own — while the Standard is for those who need the adjustable-height stand assist because they can't rise from a chair unaided. The Deluxe adds premium features like a night light, battery backup, and backlit pendant as standard.

Who is this bed right for — and who should choose a different model?

It's ideal for fall-risk users, people with progressive conditions (Parkinson's, MS, neuropathy), and wheelchair users, since the 19" deck matches standard wheelchair height. If the user cannot rise from a chair-height seat without the bed lifting them, or needs Trendelenburg positioning or hi-lo adjustment for caregiver care, the Standard or Deluxe is the better fit.

Can the bed be set up to rotate toward either side of the room?

Yes — the design accommodates both right-hand and left-hand turn configurations, adapting to any room layout. Just let us know your room setup when ordering so the bed arrives configured for the correct exit side.

Do I need a special mattress, and what's included?

The bed uses Med-Mizer's segmented mattress system designed to rotate with the deck — a standard one-piece home mattress won't work. Four options are available: Deluxe pressure-redistribution foam, gel-infused Elite memory foam, the convertible StatMatt, and the powered ActiveCare Air surface for pressure injury prevention.

How does delivery and assembly work?

The bed ships freight and is made to order. Assembly is straightforward with two people, and the detachable design helps it fit through standard doorways. White-glove delivery with in-home setup is available — note that white glove assembly generally adds 5–7 days to total delivery time and may be limited in some remote areas.
