Product Details
The Ambulation Sling is a rehabilitation-focused patient lift sling designed to support upper body stability during gait training, standing exercises, and assisted mobility programs. Unlike traditional transfer slings, this sling is engineered to encourage active participation, helping users safely practice standing and walking movements under caregiver supervision.
At Independent Living Superstore, we prioritize equipment that supports recovery, mobility progression, and real-world usability. This ambulation sling is selected for its ability to assist with controlled movement training while maintaining comfort and stability throughout rehabilitation routines.
Best For
- Gait training and assisted walking exercises
- Standing and sit-to-stand rehabilitation programs
- Users working to regain strength and mobility
- Physical therapy and recovery-focused care environments
- Situations requiring upper trunk support during movement
How to Choose Your Size
This sling is sized primarily by patient body weight. Start with the weight ranges below, then use build to fine-tune your choice.
| Size | Patient Weight Range |
|---|---|
| Small | 75 – 150 lbs |
| Medium | 120 – 200 lbs |
| Large | 180 – 300 lbs |
| X-Large | 275 – 450 lbs |
| XX-Large | 430 – 615 lbs |
Between sizes? The ranges overlap on purpose. Because this sling supports the upper trunk rather than the full body, chest and torso build matter more than height when choosing between two sizes: a broad or deep-chested user should size up, while a slighter user at the same weight should size down. A secure, close fit around the trunk is essential — during standing and walking practice, a loose ambulation sling can ride up under the arms instead of supporting the torso.
Checking the fit: Fitted around the upper trunk, the sling should sit snugly below the underarms without digging in or restricting breathing, and it should stay in place — not slide upward — when the user begins to bear weight. Confirm the fit at a low, safe height before starting any walking exercise.
Match the Sling to Your Lift
This ambulation sling is designed for use with the Med-Mizer Med-Riser MR600 patient lift, whose high lift height makes it suitable for gait training and standing exercises. The safe working load of the setup is always the lower of the lift’s rating and the sling’s rating — on the MR600, that means users up to the lift’s 600 lb capacity. If you own a different lift or gait training system, contact us before ordering to confirm compatibility.
Not sure which size to order? Call us at (844) 795-2930 before you buy. For hygiene reasons, slings can be difficult to return once opened — a two-minute conversation ensures you get the right size the first time.
Maneuverability / Placement
The ambulation sling is designed to support controlled movement rather than static transfers. Its configuration allows caregivers and therapists to guide users through standing and walking exercises while maintaining proper positioning and reducing the risk of instability during motion.
Support / Performance
This sling provides targeted upper trunk support, helping stabilize the torso while allowing freedom of movement in the lower body. It is ideal for use in rehabilitation settings where users are actively engaging in mobility exercises, rather than requiring full-body lift assistance.
Comfort / Usability
Constructed with a padded foam back panel and additional cushioning in the leg sections, the sling is designed for comfort during repeated training sessions. The padding helps reduce pressure in key contact areas, making it suitable for extended use during therapy routines.
Design & Convenience
The open and supportive design allows for natural movement patterns while maintaining essential upper body support. Its structure promotes user participation, making it a practical solution for rehabilitation programs focused on regaining independence and mobility.

Important Information
This sling is designed for rehabilitation and mobility training purposes and is not intended for full-body transfers — for transfers, use a general purpose or highback sling instead. It should only be used with compatible lift or gait training systems under appropriate supervision. Confirm that the user’s weight does not exceed the rated capacity of either the sling or the lift. Always follow manufacturer instructions and ensure proper caregiver or therapist training prior to use. This product does not replace professional medical guidance.
