An American-Made Bariatric Bed That Expands to Fit the Person and the Room

The Med-Mizer ComfortWide EX8000 is a heavy-duty homecare bed built for comfort, safety, and real-world flexibility. Its standout feature is an expandable sleep deck that widens from 35 inches all the way to 48 inches, without tools, so the bed can grow with a person's needs and still fit through doorways and into the room. With an 800-pound weight capacity, a low deck height for safer transfers, and advanced positioning, it brings hospital-grade capability into the home.

Made in the USA, the ComfortWide is designed to make daily care easier for both the person using it and the caregiver supporting them.

Who the ComfortWide Is Best For

  • Individuals who need a wider, higher-capacity bed than a standard homecare bed provides
  • People whose width needs may change over time and who want a bed that can adjust
  • Caregivers who want low height, hi-low adjustment, and advanced positioning to make care safer
  • Home and care settings that need a bariatric bed that still fits through doorways

Helpful Resources

Expandable Width, From 35 to 48 Inches

The ComfortWide's sleep deck adjusts to four widths, 35, 39, 42, or 48 inches, and it does so without any tools. That means one bed can be narrowed to move through a standard doorway and into the room, then widened once it is in place. If a person's needs change, the bed changes with them, so you are not buying a new bed down the road.

Advanced Positioning for Comfort and Care

A five-function handset controls the bed's powered positioning, so you can adjust the head and knee sections for comfort, reading, or eating, and set up specialized positions when they are needed. The ComfortWide offers a Trendelenburg position (head lowered) and a Cardiac Chair position, giving caregivers and clinicians the flexibility to position a person safely and comfortably for a range of situations.

Low Height and Hi-Low Adjustment for Safer Transfers

The deck lowers to about 9 inches and raises to about 25 inches. Lowering the bed close to the floor helps reduce the risk and impact of falls, while raising it brings the person to a comfortable working height for the caregiver, which makes transfers, repositioning, and daily care easier on everyone.

Folds for Transport and Storage

When it is time to move or store the bed, the ComfortWide breaks down and folds up compactly on its casters, so it rolls through the home and tucks away without a struggle. That makes delivery, setup, and long-term storage far more manageable than with a traditional fixed-frame bariatric bed.
